Partnering for Innovative Efficiencies is one of many ways that MoDOT seeks input, from our partners, to improve transportation in Missouri. With limited resources, the intent of these meetings is to look for ideas that can help improve performance, reduce costs and satisfy more of our customers.
The November 2008 Partnering Meeting produced several ideas that capture the true spirit of collaboration. The topic, “Innovations to Lower Costs and Maximize Best Value in Road Construction and Maintenance,” challenged the teams to identify ways to stretch the limited resources available for our transportation system. The group focused on the increased use of recycled materials and other environmental efficiencies.
Read the current newsletter below to see the ideas generated and continue to check back to view the progress. This newsletter also celebrates three years of partnering progress with a review of the accomplishments from previous meetings.
Eight priorities were agreed upon during the November meeting. They are:
- Alternative Waste Materials
- Partnering Facilitation
- Life-Cycle Analysis
- “Spec-Out” Recycling Projects
- Contract Administration
- Credit for Materials
- Allow Dual Companies to Provide Materials to Complete Jobs
- Alternative Technical Concepts Enhanced
Other Ideas
In addition to these priorities, MoDOT is exploring over 120 other recommendations offered by our partners. Many of these involve emerging technologies and efficiently utilizing recycled and other waste materials.
